Another recent project completed by CL Joinery Yorkshire , thus showing another range of the Joinery Services we are able to provide was the building and installation of an external garden gate.

Main requirements was to provide additional level of security and safety in reasonable price range . Previously the garden finished into a private alley ,which the adjacent property also had access to. Due to this the customer required a little bit more security

So from this CL Joinery provided a bespoke made to measure garden gate. Which was built from scratch and installed taking 1/2 day . The new gate provided additional security and safety for the customer . Also this was the most economical solution for the customers requirements

How to install Howdens Prefinished Doors to Professional Standard

Currently there is a growing trend for customers reverting back to wood effect for internal doors. Due to this there is now a growing range of prefinished doors available to buy direct from the major retail depots such as Howdens. This now provides easier way of improving any homes internal decor with the doors now been supplied in most common sizes allowing customer to buy direct from stock. CL Joinery are able to install all ranges of pre-finished doors and also any external composite doors. Due to our commitment to always provide work to the highest standard ,we ensure that we are equipped with correct tools for the job.

Usually when providing costing to install internal doors made from premium materials there is a difference from the cost to install standard quality doors then premium quality. Premium quality doors require additional labour time and also additional tools if they are to be installed to high standard to match the customers investment. We have provided a U-Tube video at end of this post to show why it costs more & also what you should expect if the joiner is fitting the doors to high standard

For any joiner to install any pre-finished door, including composite doors to high standard it requires the use of specialized tools. The basic tool requirements for any joiner when installing any premium door to be able to fit to a high standard is at least Door Hinge Jig and a Router.

Steps showing how to install Composite External Door

We recently completed the installation of a Composite external door self assembly kit. However this was slightly different to our most jobs due to the kit been sourced online via customer. Due to this, the new front porch was built to match the measurements of the door frame. The front porch had already been built earlier by another contractor to measurements provided by customer. So when we first attended the property the front porch was boarded up across the opening. Because of this we encountered a few issues with the measurements of the opening , which in turn required the supplied frame needing additional work so it would fit. The kit comprised of the frame in x5 separate pieces, the door and side panel, then also all the required ironmongery such as door handle & locks.

We managed to complete the project in a single day using x2 men . During the project we tried to capture the progression of the installation from start to finish. So this is the main aim of the images shown below

Listed below in separate stages is how we progressed the installation

  • 1 – Assembly of the door frame
  • 2 – Installation of the frame into the new porch
  • 3 – Side panel is then fixed into the door frame
  • 4 – Installation of door into the frame
  • 5 – Installation of letter box, door handle and door locks
  • 6 – Final stage, install sealant around door frame and under take quality assurance check
  • Work was completed in single day – June 2021
